Director, Formulations Chemistry and Pharmacology

This role isn’t a traditional formulations chemistry job. We’re looking for creative, innovative thinkers to work on our most ambitious and exciting research and development projects. A strong understanding of pharmacology, neurobiology, and how the body processes phytocannabinoids and lipophyllic compounds is a big plus for us.  

Also in the short term you’ll help us put together our lab.  We’re moving into a new facility and you’ll help us design and outfit the phytocannabinoid research lab of the future.  

This is a full time position. You'll be working from our (fully legal) R&D lab.  Start immediately. 

Typical tasks include:

  • Working with different excipients to devise different accelerant and decelerant options and preparing batches for testing by our pharmacology department

  • Planning and overseeing PK studies and other clinical research dedicated towards identifying new exciting approaches to manipulate the dose-response curve of edible cannabis.

  • Hiring and managing our formulations chemistry & pharmacology teams (as time and resources permit)

  • Integrating with our purifications team and other aspects of our R&D infrastructure

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strong understanding of pharmacology, biology, and how the body processes phytocannabinoids and lipophyllic compounds.

  • Must have worked with lipophyllic compounds in the past.

  • Should be a pharmokineticist or a pharmokinetics expert.

  • Must have performed a similar function in the past.

  • Experience with analytical HPLC, LCMS, SFC is a plus.

  • Experience in some aspect of human studies.

  • Must be willing to roll up sleeves and do work yourself since we are a startup and will not have much in the way of support staff for a while.

  • An understanding of how startups work.

  • Masters or Ph.D. in a related field.

  • Ability to manage, lead and inspire others.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Ability to work legally in Canada – but if not, it’s OK. We’ll cover your immigration.
