Lauren Maillian, Business Development and Fundraising

Hi, I’m Lauren Maillian! I’ve been building businesses and brands my entire career. Today, I am the Founder and CEO of LMB Group, a strategic marketing and brand advisory company. I was a Founding Partner at Gen Y Capital Partners, an early stage venture firm focused on investments in mobile and consumer facing technology enabled companies. I am the author of the instant bestselling business memoir, The Path Redefined: Getting To the Top On Your Own Terms.

I have always been ambitious, curious, determined, and passionate which has led me to opportunities to drive innovation-through-entrepreneurship. It’s that same curiosity and understanding of unique opportunity that’s led me to Province Brands— I see and understand the window of opportunity and feel that the company is well positioned to become a key player early in the cannabis space and has the potential to redefine what the beverage category of the future looks like. That’s always been a winning recipe throughout my career!

I am known to have a unique ability to story-tell, and have brought my brand building talents as an expert onto television as the Master Marketer and co-star of the startup focused docu-series, Quit Your Day Job, on Oxygen (NBCU). But it all really started for me at age 19, when I cofounded a boutique winery that quickly became an internationally recognized award-winning wine brand, making me the youngest self-made winery owner in the country. I served as the Chief Operating Officer of the company from inception through the brand’s acquisition in 2011.

Many call me a multi-hyphenate, a change agent, connector, influencer and media spokesperson because of my demonstrated ability to create messaging that resonates with brands, entrepreneurs, innovators, millennials, and women. I’ve worked with brands such as J.P. Morgan Chase, DeVry, Cover Girl, Bumble and Bumble, and Secret Deodorant to humanize their brands and better tell their stories to more authentically connect with the consumer. My experience is both vast and distinctive given the roles and responsibilities I have had ranging from entrepreneur, investor, advisor, talent, client-focused strategist, and brand marketing thought leader.

I am thrilled to bring my global market leadership to Province Brands; it’s an approach that leverages media, culture, development, finance, strategy and technology to grow brands. Joining Province Brands at this inflection point as they fundraise for the future and begin to think about continued ways to develop new lines of business to sustain the growth of the brand’s bold vision is exciting. I am driven by the belief that there is always an impactful solution to every problem. At heart, I am a detail-oriented strategist with a deep understanding of business operations, management, and formation across various industries. Having lived abroad, I am fairly fluent in French and Spanish, and have traveled the world to more than 50 countries and counting, I consider myself a global citizen.

I have spoken at prestigious institutions including Harvard University, Columbia University, Cornell University; Fortune 500 companies such as Google, Shell, Dell, Ernst and Young (EY), Prudential, Ogilvy, Weber Shandwick, Microsoft, L’Oréal and Bloomberg; and at industry leading conferences and events such as Social Media Week, ColorComm and AdWeek.

Because I hate missing out on compelling opportunities, I have invested in several startups and serve on the Board of Directors at Digital Undivided, a social enterprise that increases the active participation of minority women in the digital space; CoSign, a technology company that allows you to monetize your social media and shareable content; LIQS, a brand of pre-mixed single serve cocktail shots; Levo League, a career content community for Gen-Y women; and Pipeline Angels. I love art and consider collecting contemporary art created by the most promising artists of color to be my passion project with the help of a great art advisor to keeps me in touch with our future masterpieces.

My work has been featured in national media outlets including Forbes, American Express OPEN Forum, Interactive ONE, Sirius XM Radio, 1010 WIN’s, HuffPost LIVE, AOL Build, Inc. Magazine, Mashable, UPTOWN Magazine, Jet Magazine, CNBC’s Nightly Business Report, MSNBC, FOX 5, CBS New York, Business Insider, Fast Company, and Black Enterprise. In 2011, I was recognized at The White House by the Kauffman Foundation as an Empact100 Award honoree which lists the top 100 entrepreneurs under 30 and in 2013, Essence Magazine named me a “Shot Caller” to watch in business. In 2014, the New York Urban League’s Young Professionals awarded me the honor of Philanthropist of the Year for my charitable involvement and dedication to giving back, in 2015 Kia Motors and UPTOWN Magazine recognized me for being Inspirationally Crafted for my leadership and fearless entrepreneurial journey and in 2015, Smart CEO Magazine named me as a Smart CEO Brava Award Winner. In 2016, Walker’s Legacy named me to their WL50Power List that honors women making strides in the business and philanthropic community.

Philanthropically, I am involved in a few causes that are close to my heart and community, specifically, not-for-profit organizations that affect youth, poverty, education, and the arts. I serve on the Advisory Board of The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Multicultural Audience Development Initiative (MADI) Committee, as Vice Chair of The Apollo Theater Foundation Young Patrons Steering Committee, New York Urban League’s Development Committee, am a founding member of the Young Entrepreneur Council, and a Lifetime Member of the Children’s Aid Society. I proudly hold a Bachelors of Science, Magna Cum Laude, in International Trade and Marketing from the Fashion Institute of Technology (thought I would go into fashion years ago!). I live in New York City with my life partner Robert, and my two children, Jayden (a soccer star!) and Chloë (my creatively talented mini-me).

Excited to be here and looking forward to getting to know you all!
