Team Member Spotlight / Carte Blanche September 22, 2017
My name is Krina Merchant and I am Province’s Corporate Counsel. Province caught my attention because it has found a creative way to carve out a brand new space in the overcrowded alcohol and beverage industries. It is this type of innovation that has brought us services like Uber and Airbnb. They took something old and made it shiny again. Province is taking the alcohol and beverage industry and bringing it something new and attractive to appeal to a wider scope of consumers. I always knew that I wanted to work with a company that combined innovation and creativity. Once I heard what Province was doing, I knew I had found the place.
I went to law school at Leicester University in the U.K., and have a Masters in Law from both Osgoode Hall School of Law and Fordham University. I have a specific legal background in brand protection. At Fordham, I undertook an LL.M that focused on the fashion industry and its legal needs. Through that, and my previous experience in litigation in Ontario, I am excited by the opportunity to be at the front lines of protecting Province’s brand. It is exciting to be with a company that strives to be an industry leader by providing an exemplar product. Province’s attention to detail and incredible team are its recipe for success.
Other than on Suits and The Good Wife, law is not associated with fun and excitement. It is serious business. However, it is hard for me not to crack a smile. I love the work I do. Every day at Province has been fun and exciting as we navigate new laws and frontiers. Outside of this, I love to travel and read, and the combination of both is truly euphoric. I look forward to being part of Province’s growth.
