Jennifer Dianne Thomas Founder's Update September 1, 2017
Being the only founder in the legal department can sometimes be difficult. All of the tasks thatneed legal review are generally emergencies. It doesn’t always give our department a chance to take time to self evaluate because we are always moving on to the next thing. Thankfully we have a new team member and as we onboard a new person we are using the time to implement new structure to the team.
We have started the process of moving out of the start-up stage into emerging growth company stage. We are working on best practices guidelines for each department to guide its interaction with legal. We think this will make the company stronger and reduce exposure to liability, which is always the goal!
