Province Brands of Canada Announces Contract Production Agreement with Georgian Bay Biomed: The Evolution of Cannabis

TORONTO, Nov. 27, 2018 /CNW/ - Province Brands of Canada — the Canadian company developing the world's first beers brewed from the cannabis plant — today announced a co-packing agreement with Georgian Bay Biomed, a Toronto-based company with a 120,000+ square foot cannabis production facility under construction in Collingwood, Ontario.

Georgian Bay Biomed is focused on growing a safer, higher yielding, consistent product by using patented innovative technology and automation.

Province Brands of Canada - the Canadian company developing the world’s first beers brewed from the cannabis plant - today announced contract production agreement with
Georgian Bay Biomed (CNW Group/Province Brands of Canada)

"We are very excited to work with Province Brands, a cutting-edge company who sees the value in using quality ingredients to manufacture a safe and premium product for their customers," said Tim Boosamra, CEO of Georgian Bay Biomed.

The agreement will see Province Brands of Canada brew a line of premium non-alcoholic cannabis-powered beers for Georgian Bay Biomed based on Georgian Bay Biomed's own unique flavour and recipe. It is anticipated that certain beers will be brewed from the cannabis plant using Province Brands of Canada's patent-pending technologies, whereas others may be brewed from barley and later infused with a cannabis oil. Over the past two years, Province Brands of Canada has developed a patent-pending process that mashes and ferments cannabis and enables the creation of the world's first beers brewed from cannabis instead of barley.

The collaborative brewing process will coincide with having products on the shelf once the manufacture and sale of cannabis beverages are legalized in Canada and will be brewed in Province Brand of Canada's 123,000 square foot facility in Grimsby, Ontario (currently under construction).

"We're thrilled to announce this new partnership with Georgian Bay Biomed. Georgian Bay Biomed is a truly forward-looking, innovative company that aims to create high-quality cannabis products, just like we do at Province Brands," said Dooma Wendschuh, CEO and Co-Founder of Province Brands. "Beer brewed from cannabis has never been done before and we're excited that Georgian Bay Biomed partnered with us on this evolution of the way people will experience cannabis."

The Georgian Bay Biomed team will work closely with Province Brands of Canada's Master Brewer, Rob Kevwitch to produce the beers. Beers brewed using Province Brand's patent-pending technologies will be brewed from the cannabis plant and will intoxicate using THC and other phytocannabinoids instead of alcohol. Since there is no barley in beers brewed from the cannabis plant, the beer will be gluten-free and low in calories and sugar.

"It's exciting for us to brew and collaborate with others in the industry to produce uniquely flavoured beverages using the cannabis plant alone or as a complementary component to barley-based beers," said Rob Kevwitch, Master Brewer at Province Brands of Canada.

About Province Brands of Canada
Province Brands of Canada is an early stage, highly disruptive premium adult beverage company founded by veteran entrepreneurs with extensive experience in the premium alcohol and legal medical and recreational cannabis industries. Province Brands' patent-pending process has created the world's first beers brewed from cannabis while utilizing parts of the cannabis plant which would otherwise have no commercial value. Alcohol-free yet intoxicating, Province Brands' cannabis-powered beers will challenge the alcohol industry by offering a safer and healthier alternative that is also gluten-free and low in calories and sugar. Recently, Province Brands of Canada announced they are expanding their planned product portfolio beyond alcohol-free beers with the pending launch of Cambridge Bay Imperial Pilsner, a first-of-its-kind, 7% ABV imperial pilsner brewed from hemp in place of barley which can be sold anywhere alcohol is legally sold. Cambridge Bay Imperial Pilsner will be launched first in the Yukon in early 2019 with plans to be sold throughout Canada soon.
